Huddersfield North Scouts.

When there was a shortfall in the funding, due to an unexpected increase in air fares, Huddersfield Rotary Club were delighted to step in to the breach, and save the trip.

Forty Scouts from the Birkby, Sheepridge, Fartown and Bradley areas of Huddersfield were going on a self funded trip to Poland and Austria, to include a visit to Auschwitz.

On their return, their leader Darren Wood, came to a club meeting to describe the harrowing experience of the visit to Auschwitz. The horrors of WW2 were left indelibly fixed in the minds of both Scouts and Leaders alike.

Darren remarked ‘It was certainly an experience we shall never forget, and we were all torn between ‘shutting out’ the horror, and ‘seeking to learn more’.
