Our Pre-event Reception was held at Heath Cottage Hotel, Dewsbury on Thurs 15th June. 14 teams – the majority ‘first timers’ – attended and were given all information required to ensure they make the most of the day, and raise as much sponsorship as possible for their chosen Charity.

The entry list for this year’s event is now closed, with a record number of 39 teams entered. All arrangements are in place for another fantastic day at Pugneys on 8th July. So come and join us to enjoy the unique atmosphere of a Dragon Boat event. All are welcome, and car parking (in a designated area well signposted) and entry is FREE.


3rd May 2017  Update.

To date we have received 27 entries for our 9th Annual event which will  be held at Pugneys Country Park Wakefield on SAT 8TH JULY.

We are aware of a number of further entries to come, but there is still time and space to enter. Please visit our website at www.rotaryboatchallenge.org for details on how to enter a team.

We will be holding a Pre Event Reception at the Heath Cottage Hotel Dewsbury on THURS 15TH JUNE at 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Each team entered by then will receive an invitation to send 2 representatives to this meeting, where all final arrangements for the day will be explained and all questions answered. This reception is particularly valuable to teams who have not participated before. We encourage all teams to attend, when a free buffet will be provided.

You will be asked nearer the time to confirm your attendance, but in the meantime PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF THE DATE.

We have now at last finalised our 2016 event, and are delighted to announce that the final total Sponsorship money received was £34,136.94 This from 26 teams we consider was a fantastic effort, and we would like to record our grateful thanks to all teams who participated.

We are now well on the way towards organising our 2017 event, which will be held on SATURDAY 8TH JULY once gain at Pugneys Country Park, Wakefield.

Entry forms have already been sent out to all teams previously on our mailing list, and to date we have received 8 entries. Anyone interested in taking part this year should visit our dedicated website www.rotaryboatchallenge.org for details on how to enter.

This was held at the Heath Cottage Hotel, Dewsbury on Thurs 16th June.

10 teams were represented, Committee members gave a presentation, and answered questions. A buffet supper was served.

We now have 31 entries, and all is set for another successful event.



All arrangements are well in hand for our 8th Annual Dragon Boat Challenge at Pugneys Country Park, Wakefield, on Sat 9th July.

To date we have 26 entries, and know of a few others who are still hoping to enter.

The Pre event Reception, essential for teams participating in a Dragon Boat Race for the first time, will be held on THURS 13TH JUNE at Heath Cottage Hotel, Wakefield Road, Dewsbury, WF12 8ET at 7.00pm.

The total amount of money the 33 teams raised in 2015 was the magnificent sum of £36,826.00 and all this money has been distributed to the charities chosen by each team.

Plans are now well under way for our 8th Annual Dragon Boat Race, which will once again be held at Pugneys Country Park, Wakefield on SAT 9TH JULY 2016.

Entry forms were sent out a few weeks ago to all Companies/Organisations on our mailing list, and 18 teams have already signed up for this year, and we know another 6/8 are signing up soon.

Our 7th Annual Dragon Boat Race was held at Pugneys Country Park on Sat 11th July, and was again a resounding success. 33 teams competed and the winners were




The Fancy Dress Competition was won by WAKEFIELD RIDING FOR THE DISABLED, and the best Ladies Team Competition was won by BOULTONS.

The winning numbers in the Prize Draw were 1st. 1511,  2nd  1598  3rd 1634.

The organising Committee would like to thank all members and helpers who volunteered their services for the day. Without their help, we could not run the event.

The total of  Sponsorship money raised will be announced later when all the money,  and sponsorship forms  have been received.
