WHAT WE DO.

We support Communities.

We raise funds, and then give our time and our money to help others, principally in the local Community, but also nationally and internationally through other Rotary Clubs around the world.

What we have done.

  • Supported International End Polio Now
  • Purchased shelter boxes for use in disaster areas abroad.
  • Donated to various local deserving organisations.
  • Held a Community Concert in Huddersfield Town Hall
  • Organised an Annual Dragon Boat Race, which to date has raised £360,000.00 since 2009. (See below)
  • Funded a student each year to attend the RYLA course

What we are doing

  • Continuing to organise the next Annual Dragon Boat Race in 2021
  • Supporting Greenfield Family Centre in Dalton
  • Supporting Methodist Homes for the Aged.
  • Donating monthly to The Welcome Centre

What we are planning for the future

  • To continue organising the Dragon Boat Race
  • Celebrations of our Centenary
  • To continue supporting local deserving organisations
  • To plant trees in the local area
  • To continue funding a student to attend RYLA

What we are asking for.

  • New members to help us achieve our objectives going forward
  • Volunteers to help with our projects, particularly our Dragon Boat Race.

FUNDRAISING.

Our main fund raising event each year is a Dragon Boat Race, which has raised over £350,000.00 over the last 11 years. 75% of the money raised goes to a multitude of Charities chosen by each team, and the balance goes into our Rotary Charity Account for distribution to other local Charities supported regularly by Huddersfield Rotary Club.

We have recently given donations to, amongst others, the following local Charities/organisations:

Forget-me-not Trust

Welcome Centre – Huddersfield

Safe Anchor Trust

Kids Out

Wharfeside Trust

Send a Cow

Mary’s Meals

Greenfield Family Centre

And on a wider arena, we have sent funds to:

Rotary Shelter Boxes,  Aquabox and Disaster Aid to be used in international disasters (earthquakes, tsunamis etc)

Support the Rotary International campaign to eliminate polio worldwide (Crocuses for Polio).

An appeal from a local husband and wife to provide clean water and electricity to an Ethiopian village.

WE REALLY ARE FOR COMMUNITIES  – AND WE GET SATISFACTION FROM HELPING OTHERS, AT THE SAME TIME ENJOYING THE FELLOWSHIP WE GET FROM BEING A ROTARIAN.
